RENTAL CAR TERMS AND
CONDITIONS
Established: January 1, 2026
Chapter 1: General Provisions
Article 1 (Application of Terms and Conditions)
- The Company shall rent the rental vehicle (hereinafter referred to as the “Rental Car”) to the renter in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, and the renter shall rent the Rental Car accordingly.
- Any matters not provided for in these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by applicable laws and regulations or by generally accepted customs.
- The Company may agree to special provisions to the extent that they do not conflict with the intent of these Terms and Conditions, applicable laws, administrative guidance, or generally accepted customs. In the event of such special provisions, those provisions shall prevail over these Terms and Conditions.
Chapter 2: Reservations
Article 2 (Reservation Application)
- When making a reservation, the renter shall agree to these Terms and Conditions and the separately established rate schedule, and shall apply for a reservation by specifying in advance the vehicle class, rental start date and time, rental location, rental period, return location, driver(s), need for child seats or other accessories, and other rental conditions (collectively, the “Rental Conditions”).
- Upon receiving a reservation request, the Company shall, in principle, accept the reservation within the limits of available Rental Cars. Unless otherwise approved by the Company, the renter shall pay a reservation deposit as separately determined.
Article 3 (Changes to Reservation)
- Any changes to a reservation must be approved by the Company in advance.
- Reservation changes may be made only if requested at least one month prior to the scheduled rental start date and approved by the Company.
Article 4 (Cancellation of Reservation)
- If the renter cancels the reservation by the method specified by the Company at least one month prior to the scheduled rental start date, no cancellation fee shall be charged.
- If the reservation is canceled after that deadline, the renter shall pay 50% of the reservation deposit as a cancellation fee.
Article 5 (Substitute Rental Car)
- If the Company is unable to provide the reserved vehicle class, it may offer a different vehicle class as a substitute rental car.
- If the renter accepts the substitute vehicle, the rental shall be conducted under the same Rental Conditions except for the vehicle class. If the substitute vehicle rate is higher, the original reserved rate shall apply; if lower, the substitute vehicle rate shall apply.
- The renter may decline the substitute vehicle and cancel the reservation.
- If the inability to provide the reserved vehicle is attributable to the Company, the reservation shall be treated as a cancellation under Article 4, and any reservation deposit shall be refunded.
- If the cause is not attributable to the Company, the reservation shall be treated as a standard cancellation. If a substitute vehicle is requested due to an accident rendering the rented vehicle inoperable, separate charges may apply.
Article 6 (Disclaimer)
Except as provided in Articles 4 and 5, neither party shall make any claims against
the other regarding reservation cancellation or failure to conclude a rental
agreement.
Chapter 3: Rental
Article 7 (Conclusion of Rental Agreement)
- The renter shall clearly state the Rental Conditions, and the Company shall specify the rental conditions in accordance with these Terms and the rate schedule, thereby concluding the rental agreement, unless no Rental Car is available or the renter or driver falls under Article 8.
- Upon conclusion of the rental agreement, the renter shall pay the rental charges specified in Article 10.
- The Company shall require presentation and copying of a valid driver’s license (including international or foreign licenses recognized under Japanese law).
- The Company may request additional identification documents and contact information.
- Payment may be required by credit card, cash, or other methods specified by the Company.
Article 8 (Refusal to Enter into Rental Agreement)
The Company shall refuse or may refuse to rent a vehicle if the renter or driver:
- Fails to present a valid driver’s license
- Is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Lacks required child safety equipment
- Is associated with organized crime or antisocial organizations
- Has a history of unpaid charges, contract violations, insurance exclusions, or fails to meet other stated conditions
In such cases, any existing reservation shall be treated as canceled, and the reservation deposit shall be refunded unless a cancellation fee applies.
Article 9 (Effectiveness of Rental Agreement)
The rental agreement shall take effect when the renter pays the rental charges and the Company delivers the Rental Car.
Article 10 (Rental Charges)
- The rental charges shall consist of the total of the following fees, the amounts or calculation methods of which shall be specified in the Company’s rate schedule:
- Basic rental fee
- Special equipment fees
- Vehicle delivery and pickup fees
- Other applicable charges
- The basic rental fee shall be based on the rates filed by the Company with the relevant Regional Transport Bureau and currently in effect at the time of rental.
Article 11 (Changes to Rental Conditions)
- After the rental agreement has been concluded, if the renter wishes to change any of the rental conditions, the renter must obtain the Company’s prior approval.
- The Company may refuse such changes if they interfere with rental operations.
Article 12 (Inspection, Maintenance, and Confirmation)
- The Company shall rent out vehicles that have undergone legally required periodic inspections and maintenance.
- The Company shall also perform daily inspections and maintenance as required by applicable vehicle laws.
- The renter or driver shall confirm that the vehicle has been properly inspected and maintained and that there are no defects or issues, based on the inspection checklist and visual examination of the vehicle and accessories.
Article 13 (Issuance and Carrying of Rental
Certificate)
- Upon delivery of the Rental Car, the Company shall issue a rental certificate containing information prescribed by the relevant authorities.
- The renter or driver shall carry the rental certificate at all times while using the Rental Car.
- If the rental certificate is lost, the renter or driver shall immediately notify the Company.
- The rental certificate shall be returned to the Company upon return of the Rental Car.
Chapter 4: Use of the
Rental Car
Article 14 (Duty of Care)
The renter or driver shall use and store the Rental Car with due care from delivery until return.
Article 15 (Daily Inspection During Use)
The renter or driver shall conduct a daily inspection of the Rental Car prior to use each day during the rental period, as required by applicable vehicle laws, and shall perform any necessary maintenance.
Article 16 (Prohibited Acts)
The renter or driver shall not:
- Use the vehicle for commercial transport or unauthorized purposes
- Allow unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle
- Sublease or pledge the vehicle
- Modify or alter the vehicle
- Use the vehicle in races or tests
- Violate laws or public order
- Take the vehicle outside Japan
Article 17 (Illegal Parking)
All fines, penalties, towing, storage, and related costs arising from illegal parking shall be borne by the renter or driver. The Company may charge administrative fees and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
Chapter 5: Return
Article 18 (Return Obligation)
The renter or driver shall return the Rental Car to the designated location by the end of the rental period.
Article 19 (Condition Upon Return)
The vehicle shall be returned in its original condition, excluding normal wear and tear. The Company shall not be responsible for items left in the vehicle.
Article 20 (Rental Charges Upon Change of Rental Period)
If the rental period is changed in accordance with the provisions of these Terms, the renter or driver shall pay the rental charges corresponding to the revised rental period.
Article 21 (Change of Return Location)
If the return location is changed without approval, the renter shall pay a penalty equal to 150% of the relocation cost.
Article 22 (Measures in Case of Failure to Return)
- If the renter or driver fails to return the Rental Car to the designated return location after the expiration of the rental period and does not comply with the Company’s request for return, or if the Company determines that the vehicle has not been returned due to the renter’s unknown whereabouts or other reasons, the Company may take legal action, including filing a criminal complaint.
- In such cases, the Company may take necessary measures to locate the Rental Car, including contacting family members, relatives, employers, or other related parties of the renter or driver, and activating vehicle tracking systems.
- The renter or driver shall be liable for damages incurred by the Company as well as costs associated with recovering the vehicle and locating the renter or driver.
Article 23 (Measures Upon Discovery of Breakdown)
If the renter or driver discovers any abnormality or malfunction of the Rental Car during use, they shall immediately stop driving, notify the Company, and follow the Company’s instructions.
Chapter 6: Breakdown,
Accident, or Theft
Article 24 (Accidents)
In the event of an accident, the renter or driver shall:
- Stop immediately and comply with the law
- Notify the Company
- Cooperate with insurance investigations
- Obtain Company approval before settling with third parties
Article 25 (Measures in Case of Theft)
If the Rental Car is stolen or otherwise damaged during use, the renter or driver shall:
- Immediately report the incident to the nearest police station;
- Immediately notify the Company and follow its instructions;
- Cooperate with investigations by the Company and its insurance
provider and promptly submit any required documents.
Article 26 (Termination Due to Inoperability)
If the vehicle becomes unusable due to breakdown, accident, or theft, the rental agreement shall terminate. Refunds shall be handled according to responsibility for the cause.
Chapter 7: Liability and
Insurance
Article 27 (Liability)
The renter or driver shall compensate for all damages caused to third parties or the Company.
Article 28 (Insurance Coverage)
Insurance coverage includes:
- Bodily Injury: up to JPY 80,000,000 per person
- Property Damage: up to JPY 2,000,000 per accident (JPY 300,000
deductible) - Passenger Injury: up to JPY 5,000,000 per person
Any damages not covered or exceeding coverage limits shall be borne by the renter or driver.
Chapter 8: Termination
Article 29 (Termination by Company)
The Company may immediately terminate the rental agreement without notice if these Terms are violated.
Article 30 (Termination by Agreement)
The renter may terminate the agreement with Company consent, without refund of remaining rental charges.
Chapter 9: Personal
Information
Article 31 (Use of Personal Information)
Personal information shall be used for:
- Legal compliance
- Rental administration
- Marketing and service improvement
- Customer verification
Article 32 (Consent)
The renter or driver consents to the use of personal information for verification and enforcement purposes under applicable law.
Chapter 10: Miscellaneous
Article 33 (ETC Card)
Toll charges incurred using the Company’s ETC card shall be settled upon return.
Article 34 (Fuel and Equipment)
The vehicle shall be returned with a full tank of fuel. Otherwise, refueling charges and service fees shall apply.
Article 35 (Late Payment Interest)
Late payments shall accrue interest at an annual rate of 10%.
Article 36 (Supplementary Rules)
The Company may establish supplementary rules to these Terms and Conditions. Such supplementary rules shall have the same legal effect as these Terms and Conditions.
Article 37 (Jurisdiction)
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the court having jurisdiction over the Company’s principal place of business.
Supplementary Provisions
These Terms and Conditions shall take effect as of January 1, 2026.
